UIA, Paris 2024
At the UIA Annual Congress, our partner Juan Eduardo Palma J. – who also heads the Commercial Law Department at Universidad de Chile – was on the insolvency law panel. In his presentation, he referred to bankruptcy as a way to extinguish obligations and as a limit to liability.
He also served on the UIA’s senior members’ committees and on the editorial board of the UIA’s Juriste International journal. He and our associate Joaquín Palma attended a forum on the protection of senior citizens in relation to the administration of their estates, in matters of inheritance and bankruptcy. Joaquín delivered a lecture on the Constitutional Foundations of U.S. Bankruptcy Law.
‘As always, the UIA had a very interesting programme and addressed trend-setting topics. Among these, different subjects related to artificial intelligence and the future of the legal profession. All the panels, whatever the areas, covered these subjects. In 2025, the UIA returns to Latin America, and will be held in Guadalajara. I hope you take advantage of this excellent networking and exchange opportunity between colleagues from Chile and the rest of the world’, summarises Juan Eduardo Palma J.
