Radio BioBio and Tele13 – Sale of former President Allende’s house
Our lawyer Joaquín Palma Cruzat, who specializes in public and constitutional law, and is also a professor at Finis Terrae university, was interviewed in radio Bio Bio Chile and on Canal 13 TV channel on the case against Senator Isabel Allende for the sale of the house of ex-President Salvador Allende to the Treasury. The house was to be converted into a museum site.
Joaquín was one of the four lawyers hired by a political coalition to file an application before the Constitutional Court on the case, seeking to remove the senator, on the basis of the provisions of article 60 of the Constitution which bars Congresspeople from entering into contract with the State based on their position. According to media reports, the Chilean Constitutional Court reportedly ruled favourably, in an unprecedented decision and by a large majority vote.
