Our Partner Juan Eduardo Palma Cruzat talked with El Mercurio Inversiones, a specialized news outlet, on the economic crimes legislation, passed after the social outbreak and which sought to align Chile with international standards.
The new regulation has provoked significant changes in the compliance division of businesses. According to Juan Eduardo “this is a complete revolution, as companies have had to include in their corporate governance new concepts and systems,” forcing many to adjust and add new work areas related to these topics. For instance, the “compliance officer,” an independent person in charge of investigating possible corporate behaviours that may involve crimes.
